Witness - we support the church through our ongoing witness to the reign of God in the world around us.
Members of First UMC in Bixby commit themselves to faithfully participate in the ministries of the church through their prayers, their presence, their gifts, their service and their witness. Below is a listing of our witness ministry opportunities. Greeters & Hospitality - Our greeters and hospitality team are charged with creating a welcoming environment for all who grace our presence on Sunday mornings. If you love to smile, shake hands and say hello to people at church, then perhaps you should consider being a greeter!
Homebound Communion & Visitation - Several of our members are physically unable to regularly attend Sunday morning worship. Our Homebound Communion & Visitation team makes monthly visits to take communion to these faithful members of the church.
Outreach & Evangelism - This team has the creative task of coming up with new ways of helping those in the Bixby community learn about God and feel welcome to attend our church. If you have a passion for evangelism then this is the team for you!
Upward Sports/Cheer - The First United Methodist Church (FUMC) Upward program is a sports ministry specifically designed for K4 through 7th grade boys and girls that promotes salvation, character, and self-esteem in every child.
Ushers - Our ushers faithfully serve on Sunday mornings to provide assistance to visitors and to carry out the logistics of Holy Communion and the weekly offering.
Visitor Attendance & Communication - Do you enjoy writing notes? Do you have administrative gifts and skills? Then the Visitor Attendance & Communication ministry needs your help. They work to help our visitors feel welcomed to come back and worship with us regularly.
Informal Witness Ministries - In addition to our structured witness ministries above, members at First UMC share their faith with others. This might include a casual conversation about beliefs or inviting someone to church.
