Service
- we support the church through our involvement in ministry opportunities that reach beyond the walls of our church.

Members of First UMC in Bixby commit themselves to faithfully participate in the ministries of the church through their prayers, their presence, their gifts, their service and their witness.  Below is a listing of our service ministry opportunities.  For information about how to get involved in any of these ministries, call the church office or send an email to Pastor Chris at ruddell@olp.net, or click here to fill out your information.

After School Tutoring - First UMC offers after-school tutoring and mentoring for children in the Bixby area.  The cost to the families is $80 for 2 days/week or $150 for 5 days/week.
/files/Documents/chalk.jpgChildren's Ministry Team - If you like working with children, we have many ways to get involved.  All workers must be Safe Sanctuary trained through First UMC Bixby.

Circle of Care - The Oklahoma United Methodist Circle of Care has cared for Oklahoma children and youth through residential and foster care families since 1917. Their mission is to provide help, healing and wholeness to children, youth and families who are hurting or in need.
/files/Documents/missionboys.jpgMission Teams - Throughout the year we have both youth and adult mission teams going out into the world to help those in need.  Call the church office to find out about upcoming opportunities.
/files/Documents/project_transformation.jpgProject Transformation - Oftentimes we are frozen by fear or helplessness when we hear the stories of the nation's inner cities. Through Project Transformation, 55 college interns break down some of the barriers and engage in urban mission alongside volunteers from urban and suburban churches. Project Transformation invests in the spiritual development of each intern, opening their eyes to the needs and opportunities for service.
/files/Documents/quilt.jpgQuilters - Every Thursday morning this group gets together for fellowship and quilting.  They hand-sew the quilts for a nominal charge of $175-200 depending on the complexity and size, and donate the money to different ministries in the church.  If you enjoy the nearly forgotten art of hand-quilting, come and lend a hand!
/files/Documents/senioradult.jpgSenior Adult Ministry - The "Second Friday Club" meets the second Friday of every month to have lunch and fellowship.
/files/Documents/youthjumping.jpgYouth Ministry - We have a very vibrant youth ministry led by a very talented youth director.  Check out the youth webpage by visiting www.bixbyigniteyouth.com.
/files/Documents/brownbag.jpgFree Summer Lunch Program - Throughout the Summer we offer free lunches to school-aged children in the Bixby community.
/files/Documents/Care Center Small.jpgCare Center - On the third Saturday of each month, clothes and groceries are given to the Bixby, Leonard, Mounds, Glenpool, and Haskell residents who need assistance.
/files/Documents/dinnertable.jpgBereavement Dinner Ministry - When a loved one dies the Bereavement Dinner Ministry team offers to provide meals before and/or after the funeral service.
