Presence - we support the church through our involvement in leadership ministries and learning ministries.
Members of First UMC in Bixby commit themselves to faithfully participate in the ministries of the church through their prayers, their presence, their gifts, their service and their witness. Below is a listing of our presence ministry opportunities. Church Councils - From our Adult Education Council to our Administrative Council, First UMC has multiple ways in which the people of our church become leaders for God.
Choir (Chancel) - Our chancel choir sings every Sunday at the 11:00AM worship service. Practices are weekly at 7:00pm every Wednesday.
Choir (Children's) - Our children's choir is a great way for kids to get involved in the church!
Choir (Handbell) - Every time the bells come out it is a sight to be seen and a sound to be heard!
Praise Team - These are our wonderful vocalists and band members that provide the worshipful music in our 8:30am worship service.
Library Team - We have a great library at First UMC, but it doesn't stay organized by itself. Our Library Team faithfully maintains our church resources that are freely available for all to borrow.
Sacred Adornment Team - Have you ever wondered who sets up the beautiful decorations in the sanctuary at various holidays and church seasons? Well it is the fine work of the Sacred Adornment Team!
Worship A/V Team - Are you an audiophile? Then perhaps the Worship A/V Team is for you! This team helps manage the sound system every Sunday to ensure the sanctuary becomes a worshipful space.
Sunday School (Adult) - We have several adult Sunday School opportunities available to learn more about God and our place in the world.
Sunday School (Children's) - At First UMC, we believe the best learning happens at an early age and should take place at home, in the schools, and in the church.
Sunday School (Youth) - We have a very vibrant youth ministry led by a very talented youth director. Check out the youth webpage by visiting www.bixbyigniteyouth.com.
Wednesday Studies - Every Wednesday evening throughout the school year we offer a variety of classes designed to grow closer to God. Our Threshold class is great for people new to Christianity and our Disciple Bible Study is for those looking to dig deeper into the Scriptures.
